CBRE has appointed Anthony Randell to lead its New Zealand business, with the experienced property executive set to join the firm in early February.

Mr Randell will succeed Andrew Stringer, who has led CBRE’s New Zealand business for almost 10 years and will leave the firm at the end of November.

Mr Randell is joining CBRE from Precinct Properties, where he has been General Manager, Property since 2021, overseeing the group’s property teams across Auckland and Wellington and a portfolio spanning office, retail, co-working, hotel and joint venture assets.

During his 15 years at Precinct, Randell has held senior roles across investment analysis, development and portfolio management.

His appointment brings together extensive client-side experience with an agency background in valuations.

CBRE’s Australia & New Zealand Advisory Services CEO Phil Rowland said Mr Randell’s broad property experience, industry standing and understanding of the New Zealand market made him ideally placed to succeed Mr Stringer and lead the business into its next phase.

“Anthony has an outstanding property pedigree and brings a combination of agency and client-side experience that is particularly compelling for our business,” Mr Rowland said.

“He understands the industry from multiple perspectives, from valuation and advisory through to investment, development and the ownership and management of major property assets.

“Anthony is very well known and respected across the New Zealand market, and what particularly impressed us was the clarity of his thinking about where the industry is heading and the opportunities ahead for CBRE.

“He has some great ideas about how we can build on the strengths of our New Zealand platform, continue to evolve our offering and create even greater value for our clients.”

Mr Randell said the opportunity to lead CBRE’s New Zealand business represented an exciting next step in his career.

“I’m delighted to be joining CBRE and excited by the opportunity to lead a business with such a strong position in the New Zealand market.

“Having worked on both the advisory and ownership sides of the property industry, I’ve developed a real appreciation for the value that the best advisers can bring to clients, particularly as investment and occupier needs become increasingly complex.

“CBRE has considerable capability across New Zealand and internationally, and I’m looking forward to working with the team to build on that foundation, bring new ideas to clients and identify the opportunities that will shape the next phase of the business.”

Mr Rowland also paid tribute to Mr Stringer’s leadership of the New Zealand business.

“Andrew leaves a great legacy at CBRE. Over almost 10 years he has led the New Zealand business with distinction, taken us forward in a very competitive market and diversified our offering. On behalf of everyone at CBRE, I want to thank Andy for his leadership and the contribution he has made to our people and our clients.”
